Visa Information

Entry Requirements: EU/EEA citizens need a valid passport or ID card. Many non-EU citizens (including Australia, US, Canada) do not need a visa for up to 90 days, but will need to comply with the new EES system from late 2025 and ETIAS authorisation from late 2026.

Visa Types: Short-stay (Schengen, Type C) for up to 90 days, and Long-stay (Type D) for over 90 days, often processed through VFS Global.

In May, Antwerp experiences pleasant, mild spring weather, making it an excellent time for visiting. Temperatures are generally moderate, with highs typically reaching around 18°C to 19°C (64°F - 67°F) during the day and falling to about 8°C to 10°C (46°F - 51°F) at night.


Getting to Antwerp

Although there is an internatioanl airport in Antwerp, it is small and mainly designated for rural and private flights. Suggested route is via Brussels, then catching a train to Antwerp.

There are direct trains from Paris, London and Amsterdam as an alternate option..

Air Travel

Primary Airport: Brussels Airport (BRU)

Alternative Airports: Brussels South Charleroi (CRL) or Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS).

Rail Travel

Brussels Airport: Trains run directly to Antwerp Central (Antwerpen-Centraal) twice hourly and takes about 30 minutes.

Amsterdam Schiphol: Multiple train options are available, taking from 1 - 2.5 hours.

London/Paris: Direct trains are available to Antwerp
